Many theologians dismiss Leviticus 19;28 as an Old Testament ritual.
I disagree, the entire Bible was written by God. There are many dual fulfillments in the Bible. Double fulfillment precepts created by God were for those days including today.
Any cutting of the body which is a sacred temple is wrong. Tattoos are cuttings and permanent images on the body. In addition, so is any elective modification surgeries like plastic surgery.
On the other hand, I believe its ok with God if someone requires surgery for ill health reasons or in an accident and their face or body is deformed so they need plastic surgery.
Our body is not our own.
Our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit,
which we received from God.

1 Corinthians 6;19-20
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own; you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
